The price of
liberty in Iraq: 650,000
Bombs bursting in air, is a common element of
Iraq today as they celebrate almost 4 years of U.S. liberation.
"Thing are very good, very good," said one Iraqi
man recently. "There is a curfew now, nobody leaves their
homes after 7 or 8 pm, but now we have more time to spend
with our families."
Two hundred years after framers of the Declaration
of Independence in the U.S. threw out a despotic ruler, America
is intent on re-enacting history...from the other side. Not
content with their oath to defend the U.S. Constitution, Army
soldiers find themselves in Iraq and Afghanistan writing new
constitutions for those countries.
"I'm proud to be defending a flag of red,
white, and black with arabic lettering," said Cpl. Silas
Debunsky. Iraqis are glad for the U.S. presence as well.
"It's great to have such liberty,"
said one Iraqi as he lay dying on a bed in the al-Yarmuk Hospital
in Baghdad. An estimated 650,000 Iraqis have been likewise
"liberated" since the U.S. invasion began in March,
2003. Just Kidding
